Spring & Summer 2015 trends

Dear Fashion-istas!
New year, new season & new things, Polka-dots, monochrome & sheers are just a part of list. With hundreds of fashion shows across four big cities its very tricky to say least. But dont you worry, here is the cheat sheet of the trends which made major impacts on the runways.  I'm sharing few top trends as seen on fashion runways to keep your look updated.

1. Polka Dots:
A simple & yet classy print that has retained its impact over the years, the polka dot burst joyously onto the runways this fashion week. From faded straps to 3D designed or dotted regularly across a dress, polka dots were worn black & white.


2. Black Mesh:
Worn all over or as a single piece, mesh is the season's answer to graphic sportswear. Banded across the chest on a top or a dress, the sheer fabric gives a suggestive allure, partly revealing & partly concealing the lies beneath.


3. Monochrome:
An ultra refined palette for maximum optical effects was the choice of many designers, for a deceptively minimalist yet effective look, which shows its complexity in the combination of materials, studs, zips, matte & gloss finishes.



4. Tassels:
While last season was all about long fringe, this spring is learning more decorative tassels. Beaded, colorful, textured tassels were seen on waists, bottoms or all over the dresses. All set for the dance floor.


5. Sultry Sheers:
Spring is an apt time to embrace transparent but this season is taking it a notch higher with fully transparent pleated skirts, regardless of its an ideal illustration of sexy & coy-a secretary shape with a boudoir fabrication as seen on runways.


6. Dressed up skirts:
Oh well I know this looks very stupid & atleast I'm not going to try this but you never know. Designers felt why bother with just a dress when you can top it off with a skirt. Minis & pencils did double duty as extra chic belting over poplin shirt & pleated gowns were seen on the ramps.

7. Hippie Deluxe:
Stepping straight out from 70s, the long, light & flowing dresses will be in the breeze this summer. This season, the luxury bohemian trend took on the runways in powder pink silhouettes, motifs & pleats.

Review | Huda Beauty Lashes in Samantha

Dear Makeup-aholics!

We all know that an eye makeup is incomplete without a good pair of lashes. For some people including me, its very tricky to select the perfect falsies & apply them properly. I have always wanted to get that dolled up looks at many parties but was very scared to wear lashes. I tried some drugstore falsies to practice but could never apply them perfectly.


I'm a big fan of Huda Kattan & she is my inspiration for the blogging & makeup. I always watch her tutorials & follow her everywhere possible. She is great at doing the makeup & making it look so easy & effortless. I have always watched her applying her line of lashes & stacking them as well. I always wanted to try her lashes but couldn't get my hands on them as they were not available in KSA & always sold out at the Sephora Dubai airport.

But finally this summers she decided to launch her lashes in KSA & I ran to Red Sea mall but they were sold out there as well. After 3 continuous visits to the Sephora,  I finally scored a pair of Samantha only & I was on cloud nine that day.



Samantha was just recently added to Huda's line of falsies & its their first 3D effect lashes. They are pre-stacked thick & beautiful eyelashes which looks unreal with thick cat eyeliner. You cant get over how whispy & gorgeous they are. If you find yourself stacking up the lashes for dramatic effect then these falsies are your answer. They look very elegant & natural without adding any mascara but if you decide to get that extra dimension then go forward & apply mascara to get your desired look. the lashes themselves look long & ridiculously thick, they look so glamorous on. They are  made up of super quality & you can easily get 5 to 10 uses from each pair.

Best beauty trends for 2015

Hello beauties!

I know you must be wondering why am I sharing this after 2 months of 2015? But hey its better to be late than never.
So my favorite so far are pixelated hair, metallic eyes, bold lips, glowing skin & ofcourse cat eye liner.



1. Cat eyeliner:
The all time favorite of almost everyone. Yes! the cat liner is big this season & you can wear it as you like. You can do a super thick liner & wing it out or you can smoke it out. You can try it squared out in the inner & outer corner. Try these looks with a liquid liner, gel liner & eyeshadow. Mine favorite is thick cat eye liner.



2. Glowing skin:
For glowing skin I recommend you to mix a lil luminizer with your foundation or tinted moisturizer or using on illuminating powder.


3. Bold lips
Here comes the second favorite of mine. Bold lips have been a favorite always paired with a thick eyeliner or dolled up lashes. But with the bold lips I'm really into the long wearing lipsticks as you know I dont like touchups.



4. Metallic eyes:
Another hit trend which i'm liking lately is super metallic lid with nude crease. You can use gold, silver, gunmetal or rose gold on the lid & a matte crease to get that look.





5. Purple eyes:
If metallic is not your thing then I have a good news for you. I noticed alot of purple & lilac lids, purple smokey eyes. The ones that are really soft & unstructured almost like the wearer slept in their makeup. Or you can totally skip that and try a pop of purple on lower lashline with bare upper lids.


6. Pixelated hair:
While not a trend for everyone this next trend is exactly what it sounds like- video game pixel inspired hair. For someone like me who loves trying different thins, its a cool & nice alternative for people to color their hair. Definitely its a good option for the hair which is worn the same way all the time. So basically those who have straight hair, fringe or want to funk it up, you can try this. Beside this braiding is on peek so watch a few tutorials on youtube for some inspo.

Well in the end I would just say if you dont like these trends its ok to skip them & stick to what you like. But if you like changing & trying new things that you know what are we doing this season. There is no harm in trying atleast a one of these trends.

10 beauty secrets to steal from Marylin Monroe

Marylin has been always a favorite super star & I love everything about her personality. She was an ultimate beauty icon of all time & I have always loved her mind. She was naturally very pretty & charming but her makeup secrets made her look fabulous & unique. Today I'm sharing 10 beauty secrets of my all time makeup inspiration.

1.Plumper lips:
Yes! The first thing first. Who doesn't want the perfect Marylin's red pout?
Marylin's makeup artist used to layer 4 to 5 color of lipsticks topped with gloss layered on one another to achieve that multi dimensional look. After outlining the lips, darker shades were used on the outer corners, followed by lighter shades in the middle with some highlighter on the cupid bow & on the center of bottom lip as well. On top layered by a beautiful gloss which made her lips look fuller & so voluptuous.  

2. Moisturizing with Vaseline:
Marylin used to apply vaseline under her foundation to add a lovely glow to the skin. This trick made her look amazingly fresh & glowing on camera, creating kind of soft focused look.


3. The falsies:
The actress used to wear only half set of lashes on outer corners of her eyes to extend the shape of her eyes, followed by couple of coats of mascara for the perfect eye lashes.

4. Heart shape highlight:
To enhance the heart shape face feature, the makeup artist of Marylin Monroe used couple of tricks. to widen the upper half of her face he used highlighter as well as arched the brows which helped to widen the forehead. And then, he contoured 7 shadowed the bottom half of her face with darker shade of powder to create the illusion of narrow jawline & slimmer face.

5. Nose job:
Makeup artist Whitney used blush to shorten Marilyn's nose as well as to enhance her cheeks. He used to dab a lil bit of blush on tip of her nose & then go on top of it with vaseline & powder to achieve the soft focus texture & to achieve shorter looking nose.

6. The famous eyeliner:
The makeup artist of Marylin's knew the art of perfect eye liner. He used to start from the inner corner all the way to the outer corner, bringing the line out and up.

7. Faking the falsies shadow:
The makeup artist used to draw a fake shadow on the outer corner of lower lash to create the illusion using a soft brown pencil. This used to give Marylin a more open eyes effect & seductive look. The gap between two lines was used to be highlighted to complete the signature Marylin look.


8. Highlighting:
This means highlighting the eyes all over by applying a highlighter in inner corners of eyes, on the brow bone & under the eyes.

9. Mesmerizing eyes:
To get those beautiful eyes Marylin's eyes were coated with creamy white eyeshadow. All over the lid upto brow bone & then soft smokey brown or silvery blue shadow was applied on outer crease to give effortless depth.

10. Always fresh secret: 
She used only pink & coral blushes to always look fresh & give her that soft feminine look.
